Happy Halloween

Ok, there is one problem with buying your baby stuff at a consignment store. The stuff that was purchased for the winter was done in August. So the adorable Tigger costume that was supposed to fit a 12 month old baby was way too small. But I put it on him anyway because I am him Mom and it is my job to torture him. He did take the little Tigger and put it in him mouth and shake it just like Gilly taught him.

And what would Halloween be without Kevin and I's pumpkin renditions. This year we took on each other. Doesn't it look like Kev?

Ethan's favorite toy

Ethan's two favorite things in life, his truck and Syneca. He is such a big boy

Hanging out at home

Just us hanging out at home. Ethan being silly.

My favorite picture. Although it looks like he it trying to kiss me, he was actually trying to bite me.

Ok, so it has been a while since my last posting. The pictures below were taken of Ethan at 9 months.

This one is for Grandpa :)

This one is for Daddy.

These are his "faces" portraits that I love!

Alicia's First Tooth!

Lake week this year was very exciting. Alicia lost her first tooth. Actually, I think daddy pulled it out! (Really it was an apple but it is more fun to blame Daddy)

The best things about the Rochester airport is the play area. Ethan loves the planes and mushrooms. Makes waiting so much easier. Why don't all airports have these?

New Boat

Since it is Texas and it is hot and we couldn't get a pool installed, we did the next best thing and bought a boat. It is a 2005 Yamaha AR230 High Output jet boat. Like a giant jet ski. Too bad I didn't get a picture of the actual boat!

Yes, Ethan is in a giant lilly pad. It is mid-summer and the selection was gone so you get what you get. Hey, he is afloat right?

Bathtub

What is a good blog that doesn't have any bathtub pictures? And he is an adorable 8 month old. Probably the cutest I have ever seen!

Ethan and Sunglasses

It has been a long time since my last posting and so much has gone on in the past month. First, I got laid off from Texas Instruments. Thankfully, Kevin still has a job there. In the beginning I was upset then I was happy, then scared. Now I know it was all for the better. Yesterday I accepted a job offer as a Project Manager for a graphics design firm called John Perez Graphics & Design. It seems to be a promising company and they plan is for them to train me to help run the company. It is very exciting and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. However, I have one year without vacation time so that will be really hard, especially with it being Ethan's first summer. Kevin and I discussed this and think that one year of sacrifice will be worth it. I start tomorrow and have really enjoyed my time off. Hopefully, I will be posting more once I get a laptop and can hook my camera back up to the computer.

Yesterday Ethan started in a new daycare and it is a wonderful place for him. They are warm and loving and spend a lot of time interacting with him. It is not like the last place where they put him in an exersaucer, then a jumper, then a swing and repeat for the whole day. He seemed to really like it and was happy when I picked him up yesterday. He has turned into such a sweet baby. He has the biggest smile and can light up a room. He loves to smile at anyone who will look at him and gets lot of attention. It is hard to believe he is the same baby we brought home from the hospital.

Ethan is also sleeping through the night! We went to the doctor and he said to just unswaddle him and take away the paci and let him cry in his crib until he falls asleep. We did and it was NOT easy. He screamed for about 45 minutes and off and on throughout the night. Now, he goes to bed and cries for about a minute and falls asleep. It is wonderful. He sleeps from 7pm to 6am. I am a happy and rested Mommy!

Ethan does not like the sunlight so I got him a pair of sunglasses because I thought it would be fun to torture him with them. Boy was I surprised when he happily wore them. He actually cries if he doesn't have them on and the sun gets in his face. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

Rice Cereal

We have started Ethan on cereal and so far he hasn't figured out how to swallow it. He keeps trying to suck on the spoon. Most of it goes every where and the food I put in his mouth just drips out but we are trying.

Happy Anniversary

Kevin and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary and his 36th birthday on 2/23. We left Ethan with my friend and went down to Austin. We got some cowboy boots and had a great time. Thank you all for your cards and best wishes!

Sleep

When I had Ethan, many people told me that as soon as he gained enough weight, he would easily sleep through the night. HA! Once again, our son has proven that he has his own set of rules and we are here to cater to his demands. I was reading today about babies and sleeping and most of the articles said that by 4 months, your baby should be sleeping through the night. And if you haven't already started "training" them to do so, you are severly screwed. I am terrified and now think that my son will never learn how to sleep and it is all my fault for not starting earlier.

Here is the situation. By 7pm, he is tired and wants nothing to do with playing or hanging out with Mommy or Daddy. He definately established that he is a morning person when he woke up at 6am giggling (that is just wrong!). We basically pick him up from daycare, feed him, make a few faces at him and then put him to bed. I tried to keep him up until 8pm (some article deemed this the appropriate hour for bedtime) and he basically screamed from 7 to 8. At this point 2 weeks ago, he would have slept until 1-2am and I would put his paci back in and he would go back to sleep. Then he would wake up at 5am and eat. Now... he wakes up screaming at 10, 1, 4 and then gets up at 7am for the day. Not just fussy at 1am but full on screaming at the top of his lungs. It is not nice to wake up that way. I tried his paci, and he refused. I tried to pat him and tell him to go back to sleep (like to books say) and it does not work. The only thing that works is feeding him. So now, we are back to square one. I have regressed and the books basically say it is all my fault. I am now doomed until he is 18 to never sleep again.

I have a co-worker who had her daughter at the same time. She said she has never even heard her cry. WTF???? I think, what if my son was like that. Then I think that he probably wouldn't smile as big, or laugh as loud or snuggle as much. :)

Just Cause

Just cause it was cute.

Family Photos

We decided this weekend that we needed some family photos. Ethan is getting so big now. His new thing this week is giggling. It is very cute. He loves to flirt with all the ladies who think he is adorable. He is becoming very talkative. It is the beginning of the end to the silence in our house. He is so much more fun now that the colic is gone. I am looking forward to him being able to play with other kids. He has a girlfriend in daycare. The are crib neighbors and love to smile at each other.
