Ethan's Smiling!...... And it's not gas!!

It figures as I go back to work, the little one starts to do more than stare at the wall. He hasn't quite figured out how to laugh yet but he is close. He is much cuter smiling than screaming.

While at work on Tuesday, I decided that since everyone we invited for Thanksgiving couldn't come, there was no need to stay at home. We had the turkey and the bread for stuffing but that could all wait. So I went to Kevin's office and asked him if he wanted to do something spontaneous. Of course he said yes (the reason I married him) and we left to pack for our short (23 hour) road trip to New York. We were on the road by 8pm with Ethan wondering what the heck was going on. It worked out well, we definately surprised everyone! Kevin was sure to let me know that I wasn't allowed to do this every year. We'll see ;)

Professional Pictures

Ethan had some pictures taken. I actually got scammed by a "free sitting" which turned out to be not even close to free. However, the pictures came out really well so I can't complain too much. He is pretty darn cute if I don't say so myself.

Gifts from Alicia

Ethan got some gifts from his big sister. As you can see, he really enjoyed them. Finally a smile, or gas, either way I got a picture of it.

Update: A friend of Kevin's said that colic last to 3 month or 13 lbs. This is a lie. A mean a cruel lie that gave us hope and optimism. Yesterday Ethan was 13.2 lbs and still going strong with the colic. While everyone and thier mother has advice on how to get rid of it, none of it works. Well, I havn't tried rubbing his belly with olive oil, but seriously, I am sure that won't work either. Mommy and Daddy and still surviving the nightly tortures. I read that for most babies, colic is at least 3 nights a week. We must have won the lotto and got the extra special kind that comes every night. Lucky us. He definately shares the same lung capacity of his big sister. All I can hope for is that it ends at 3 months and not at the END of his 3rd month. It would be the best Christmas present ever.
On a good note, he met the babysitter last night and she was not scared away by his tremendous lung capacity and ability to shatter glass. Hopefully we can get at least one Christmas party in away from home.

He's a little young to be stealing Grandpa's beer. Not sure if he gets it from his Mommy or Daddy, maybe both.

Happy Halloween!!!

I am not sure, but I don't think Ethan was too thrilled with his Little Monster costume.

Here is Ethan with "Paul Bunyan", "Brandy", Baby and Gilly pumpkins.

He almost looks like he is sleeping but he just doesn't like to open his eyes outside.

And my favorite, he just looks so happy!

Update for all of you. We are fairly certain now that Ethan has colic. It is one of those things that noone talks about when you are pregnant. I think for the hope that it doesn't happen to you. It is not fun at all. I think I not have a hearing lose in both ears. He has one powerful cry. He and his big sister have the same lungs. We may have to sound proof our house just to spare the neighbors. We have tried the gripe water and the Mycolin and nothing works. So I have resigned myself to the next 2-3 months of fun and try my best to ignore it. We have accepted that we cannot do anything about it so we are just trying to stay sane. Since he is so much fun, we will be driving to NY for Christmas. There is no way I could subject the people on the plane to his lung capacity. Thank you all for you support and words of encouragement. Thank goodness this is our first and last. I don't think I could willingly do this again! (He is cute though!)

Happy One Month Birthday!!!

I can't believe it has already been one month! Ethan has grown so much. I finally got a smile out of him, although it doesn't happen very often. He is grumpy most of the time. He wants to get up and move around and can't yet.
